The HS Visual Arts department recently added Sculpture to their curriculum. I am lucky to have been able to be part of the creation of this new course and have the opportunity to create some of their lesson plans as well as the collaterals for the unit. The following is a Google Slides file we presented to the students before the demonstration of the materials which includes clickable links to artist references, images, and videos. Additionally, I created a sample paper sculpture indicated on Slide 13 as part of the demonstration.
This is a two-day lesson. The first day is the introduction to the materials, demonstration, exploration, and planning. Day 2 will consist of the students creating their sculptures. They will then photograph their work and place the images into a shared Google Docs file for the purposes of documentation and critique.
